Troy Ferguson: Seal Beach’s Future F1 World Champion?

Troy Ferguson is a 10-year-old kid from Seal Beach taking the karting world by storm. He has already had multiple SKUSA wins and is a three-time ProKart champion about to move from Orange County to Italy to pursue his dreams.

If you’re a fan of Formula One and the Netflix show, Drive to Survive, you’ll know that going to Europe is the best way to develop a professional motorsports career. Troy is being offered his big break- being invited to join a junior European race team in Italy, one of the motorsports capitals of the world.

It’s the first big step in fulfilling his family’s ambition of reaching the pinnacle of motorsports. Find out more about Troy’s journey and how you can support his dreams of becoming one of the few American drivers to make it to the top of the motorsport world.

Meet Troy Ferguson: Future World Champion?

on Discovery+, a fly-on-the-way documentary about the competitive world of go-karting. You can watch a clip of Troy during a race weekend shown on Baby Drivers here.

Troy currently competes in what is known as the ‘Cadets’ of go-karting, where kids aged 8 to 11 battle it out on the racetrack to win titles and get the attention of all-important sponsorship and mentoring programs.

Troy’s parents, Ron and Jenny Ferguson, also feature in the Discovery+ show and have supported him in dominating the Cadets class in go-karting.  He has a consistent track record of qualifying in pole position and winning races throughout California.

Help Troy Make It to Formula One

Succeeding in go-karting in Europe is crucial to taking the next steps up the ladder to junior Formulas to reach Formula One and follow in the steps of George Russell, Lando Norris, and Alex Albon. Go-karting is unlike any other sport, testing a driver’s raw talent, strategy ability, and quick thinking.

It’s also one of the most expensive sports in the world in a highly competitive field where track time and experience mean everything. Ambitious go-karters like Troy, with their sights set on Formula One, have to independently fund their races and pay additional costs, such as management, training coaches, and the go-kart itself.

Traveling to Europe is the next steppingstone to graduating through the go-karting categories and landing a coveted spot in a feeder series, such as Formula 2 or Formula 3.

Huntington Beach Days is supporting a poker night and silent auction fundraiser to help Troy make his dreams a reality. You can become part of Troy’s journey by following him on Instagram as he prepares to leave the U.S. to follow his motorsports dreams in Europe.
