Cocktails Behind Closed Doors: 4 Speakeasies in Huntington Beach

5 Speakeasy's not to miss in Huntington Beach | Huntington Beach Days | Speakeasy Huntington Beach

Hidden in unsuspecting restaurants and bars lies some of Huntington Beach’s best-kept secrets — the unexplored world of HB speakeasies. From once-in-a-lifetime omakase experiences to Michelin Star eateries tucked inside larger restaurants, explore all the nooks and crannies lying in the depths of HB’s undercover bar scene.

Kai

Located in HB’s Pacific City lies Kai, a unique Japanese culinary experience with a hidden Omakase dining space tucked away in the restaurant’s secret room. Kai, meaning “I’ll leave it up to you” in Japanese, invites everyone to taste their modern menu and impressive cocktail list. Upon entering the secret room in Kai, you can expect to surrender all of your dining choices to their skilled omakase chef who artfully prepares a rotating multi-course menu. From fresh sashimi to delicately crafted hand rolls, delight in some of Huntington Beach’s best sushi. But remember, it’s a secret!

HQ Gastro Pub

You may know Gastro Pub for incredible burgers and ocean views, but have you ever explored their speakeasy, Graceland? Nestled in a hidden room is their hideaway, Graceland, which offers a colorful lounge, bustling 70s music, gourmet plates, and of course, excellent craft cocktails. They even provide private memberships and personal spirit lockers for those of us who want nothing more than to be regulars of Graceland. With a picturesque view of the HB pier, HQ Gastro Pub’s speakeasy needs to be on this year’s bucket list.

LSXO

Hidden inside of Pacific City’s Bluegold restaurant is LSXO, a gourmet Vietnamese speakeasy restaurant you won’t forget. LSXO’s entrance is so unassuming that some might mistake it for a janitor’s closet, but once their doors open you’ll immediately become immersed in an edgy, modern setting that overlooks the ocean. It only has a few tables and was even awarded a Michelin star last year for its Southwest Asian-inspired menu, making it a difficult reservation to come by.

400 Club

(Currently closed for remodel, but reopening soon)

You might have been to Four Son’s Brewing, but did you know they have a secret craft cocktail lounge located inside their distillery? It’s called 400 Club and specializes in classic cocktails and seasonal specials. 400 Club’s discreet establishment offers an intimate setting for date night for two, or they accept renting out their entire space for larger parties. So whether you’re a bourbon enthusiast or a lover of all things craft cocktails, your next night out with friends needs to be at the 400 Club.
